What broke me was people saying my husband wasn’t man enough — Chef Amaka opens up on PCOS struggles

Chef Amaka, the wife of popular Nigerian health influencer Aproko Doctor, has opened up about the emotional pain she endured after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) just three months into her marriage.

Speaking during an interview, the chef revealed that she sought medical attention after her menstrual cycle suddenly stopped shortly after she got married, leading to the diagnosis.

According to her, the condition caused several physical changes, including rapid weight gain, a broader upper body, and changes to her appearance that made her look older than her husband.

Beyond the physical symptoms, Chef Amaka said the emotional toll of online trolling was even more painful.

She revealed that many social media users mocked her appearance, claiming she looked like "the man of the house" and even joking that she was the one beating her husband.

However, she said the comment that broke her emotionally was when people began questioning her husband's masculinity because they had not welcomed a child.

“What made me cry was when they said my husband is not man enough to father a child,” she said.

Chef Amaka explained that those remarks deeply affected her because they unfairly targeted her husband despite the fact that she was the one living with a medical condition.

She shared her story to raise awareness about PCOS and encourage compassion toward couples facing fertility challenges, reminding people that insensitive comments can cause lasting emotional pain.

Her revelation has resonated with many online, with several people praising her courage for speaking openly about her diagnosis and the emotional struggles she and her husband faced.
